What would RWA + DeFi look like? RWA (Real World Asset) literally refers to tokenizing "real assets" on the blockchain. Just as we can break down 1 BTC into 100 million Satoshis, we can tokenize a 5 billion won apartment in Gangnam into 100 million pieces, with each token proving and trading that it represents 1/100 million of a Gangnam apartment. ($GNAPT = 50 won 😂) However, there are teams that want to utilize these RWAs not just for simple tokenization and trading, but for DeFi. A prime example of this is @Theo_Network. Theo tokenizes U.S. short-term treasury bills (thBILL). Just as Tether or Circle issue stablecoins backed by U.S. treasury bonds, allowing users to experience numerous DeFi opportunities, it is expected that many DeFi cases will emerge from Theo's thBILL as well. On the other hand, @stbl_official plans to issue and operate stablecoins backed by numerous RWA assets issued by Theo and others. For instance, they would set the previously mentioned Gangnam apartment tokens or thBILL as collateral to issue stablecoins again. So how will these RWA + DeFi assets be traded? There will likely be numerous exchanges. I believe that not only CEX and DEX but also traditional stock exchanges will eventually create these RWA exchanges. (The parent company of NYSE is already working on this.) However, the speed will be fastest with DEX. I believe that futures trading will be introduced before spot trading. In that sense, I am particularly keeping an eye on @OrderlyNetwork. Orderly serves as a Perp DEX infrastructure layer, and many DEXs are currently being built on top of Orderly. It’s like selling pickaxes next to a gold rush in the RWA era. For example, @vooi_io offers RWA futures trading for stocks, foreign exchange, and precious metals. The era of RWA + DeFi is coming. This article briefly explored what that ecosystem might look like. However, since RWA is a market that can be called the End Game of blockchain, its future will be limitless. Adding DeFi to this... I believe this is why we should pay attention to RWA + DeFi.
